Elementary Supports (K-4th)
Learning Together in the General Education Classroom
Whenever possible, we bring special education support right into the general education classroom so students can learn alongside their peers.
Push-In Services
- What it looks like: A special education teacher comes into the general education classroom for specific periods of the day to work directly with students who have IEP goals.
- The classroom environment: Unlike co-teaching, the special education teacher does not co-lead the entire class, but instead provides focused instruction to individual students or small groups during their regular daily activities.
Specialized Small-Group Support (Pull-Out Services)
When a student needs more intensive support or modified materials that cannot be easily provided during regular class time, they may receive pull-out instruction. This means they spend part of their day in a smaller setting working directly with a special education teacher. The IEP determines the amount of time a student will receive specialized instruction outside the general education classroom.
