Incumbent Board of Education Members Re-Elected; New Member To Join Board

River Forest’s municipal elections were held on Tuesday, April 6, with four open positions and five candidates for the District 90 Board of Education listed on the ballot. The unofficial results indicate that three incumbent Board members – Katie Avalos, Stacey Williams, and Nicole Thompson – received the votes needed for re-election to their Board positions.

The two other individuals on the ballot were Scott Hall and Sarah Eckmann. The unofficial results indicate that Sarah Eckmann was also elected to the D90 Board of Education to begin her service in May. Mr. Hall had officially withdrawn from the race, but not before ballots had been printed. Yesterday, the Cook County Clerk’s Office confirmed that votes for withdrawn candidates are not certified.

Since oversight of elections is the responsibility of the Cook County Clerk’s Office, the District is required to await their official certification of election outcomes. It is then up to the Board of Education to canvass the voting result at the Board of Education Meeting in early May. Recently elected Board members will be sworn in at the May 3 Organizational Meeting, which will immediately follow the Board of Education Committee of the Whole meeting starting at 7:00 p.m.

Additionally, the D90 community offers our heartfelt gratitude to retiring Board of Education member Judy Deogracias for her deep and abiding commitment to the school community and the Village of River Forest. We remain extremely grateful for Judy’s service and dedicated leadership.
