Roosevelt Middle School Recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program

Roosevelt Middle School has been recognized by technology leader Apple, Inc. as an Apple Distinguished Program. The award recognizes Roosevelt and District 90’s commitment to embedding technology across the entire curriculum by strategically incorporating iPads as a tool for student learning and community engagement. Roosevelt provides Apple iPads to all of its 5th – 8th grade students, teachers, and staff as part of its 1-to-1 program (one student to one computer).

“Roosevelt’s recognition reaffirms the district’s efforts to bring technology to the classroom,” said Ed Condon, superintendent of District 90. In 2010, the District developed a 5-year Strategic Plan that articulated a commitment to technology by strategically adopting and incorporating iPads as a tool for 21st Century learning and community engagement. Beyond academics, District 90 diligently works to make sure that technology flows across the entire learning process – from academics to after school activities – and actively engages parents in the process. For instance, parents are invited to attend technology information nights at the start of the school year and have access to a Tech Tips website to support iPad use at home. Additionally, students and parents receive Internet Safety Training.
