Social Emotional Advisory Panel's Recommendations

Social Emotional Advisory Panel's Recommendations

The Social Emotional Advisory Panel (SEAP) spent the month of March identifying the ways to support the social-emotional wellness of the District 90 school community. At the April Community of the Whole Meeting, Dr. Condon and Denise Matthews, Director of Special Education, presented SEAP’s final recommendation to the Board of Education. The SEAP’s recommendations fell into five focus areas: relationships, social-emotional programming, trauma-related issues, screening and measurement, and student-specific needs. The recommendations were supported by the Board members. District administrators will begin to make plans for implementing the recommendations during the summer and into the fall. While the work will be prioritized and the pathways will vary for implementing these recommendations, the District is committed to addressing each of the elements to ensure that all school community members are supported. The District is deeply appreciative of the diverse cross-section of our community that contributed their time and expertise to this endeavor, including parents, faculty, staff, students, administrators, PTO representatives, RFEA leaders, mental health professionals, community partners, social workers, and the District nursing team.
