Full Remote Learning in Effect Until December 14, 2020

Full Remote Learning in Effect Until December 14, 2020

Adaptive Pause and Remote Instruction Continue
District 90 has been under an “adaptive pause” with students receiving remote instruction since October 28. Last week, remote instruction was extended until at least after the Thanksgiving Break on November 30. Unfortunately, public health metrics around COVID-19 transmission continue to remain heightened at both the regional and local levels. The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) has stated that they are currently experiencing at least a 48-hour data lag due to reporting delays from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). This lag will undoubtedly be affected further by the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. To allow families and staff to plan, the District is making a determination in advance of Thanksgiving that based upon the currently-available public health metrics, District 90 will continue to provide remote instruction to students until Monday, December 14. We will next inform families about the status of blended instruction in District 90 on Thursday, December 10.

Please be assured that the administrative team will continue to rely on the guidance from the IDPH and CCDPH as we monitor the local and regional health metrics. We also remain grateful for our partnership with the Rush University Medical Center Infection Prevention Team for their support and counsel about the District’s efforts to mitigate the potential effects of COVID-19.

Full-Time Remote Learning Option
We realize that many families will be disappointed to hear the news that public health conditions are not suitable to return students to blended instruction at this time. Faculty, staff, and administrators also share this disappointment. For families who would prefer greater certainty and a predetermined routine for their students, the District has reopened the enrollment window for the Full-Time Remote Learning Option. The enrollment window will be open until Thursday, January 7, 2021. The commitment for full remote instruction will continue through January 21. After Winter Break, families who wish to enroll in the Full-Time Remote Learning Option for the 3rd Quarter will have the chance to do so. View additional information about the full-time remote instruction option. D90/West Cook YMCA Remote Learning Supervision
There are still openings available in the D90/West Cook YMCA Remote Learning Supervision program for families who need childcare support. The program provides support and remote learning supervision for students in grades 1-6. Hosted at the Dominican University Priory Campus, the program has dedicated and expanded space for both indoor and outdoor activities. There is a robust wireless infrastructure so that students can securely access their remote instructional activities, as well as safety and supervision accommodations. As we continue to navigate the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, please be assured that the District’s highest priority is the health and safety of our students, faculty, families, and staff. Also, please know that District 90 greatly values your support, patience, and understanding during these unusual times.
