District 90 Advances Roosevelt Exterior Project

The Board of Education recently approved awarding a contract to K.R. Miller Contractors for $1.417 million for the Roosevelt Exterior Site Improvement Project. This action advances the Roosevelt Middle School exterior renovation. The project is scheduled to start on or about June 6 and after the last of day of the regular school year. The purpose of Roosevelt Exterior Project continues to be to improve student safety, campus aesthetics, and the functionality of the school site. Important elements of the plan include playground improvements, the installation of bicycle racks and pedestrian paths, and the development of a “through block” walkway that provides for easy and safe access from Jackson Avenue to Lathrop Avenue. This revised plan includes an improved North Lot that retains 36 parking spaces, while retaining a total of 50 off-street parking spaces throughout the site. Updated landscaping, improved lighting and signage, and the introduction of shade and ornamental trees remain a part of the reconfiguration.
