Strategic Planning

River Forest School District 90 has launched a strategic planning initiative to chart a course for the next 3 - 5 years, and we invite your participation in this process.  Your input is essential to the development of a plan that is reflective of River Forest’s vision for its schools.  District 90 has long benefited from an engaged community dialog, and we believe it is this dialog that has prodded the District to achieve the academic excellence that it has to date.

The District welcomes your thoughts in two ways.  Focus groups were held in early November.  Additional input was solicited through December 22nd, via an online community survey.  More information will follow, but we hope to have reached a broad cross-section of the community with this instrument.

Following these initial steps, the strategic planning process will continue through the end of the year as follows:

  • January, 2010   -Focus group data and community survey results synthesizedinto goal areas
  • February-April  -Supporting objectives, action steps and measurement tools identified
  • May                    -Further financial feasibility and prioritization completed
  • June                    -Review/approval of the District Strategic Plan

Our thanks to those who attended a focus group to share thoughts and hopes for District 90 and to all who participated in the survey.  Strategic planning will occupy a significant portion of the discussion at this year’s Board meetings, and we welcome your attendance to hear this discussion firsthand.  Regular updates will be posted on this page and also communicated by mail via the quarterly Primer.
