Board of Education Vice President Anne Gottlieb Resigns; Process to Fill Vacancy Begins Immediately

Board of Education Vice President Anne Gottlieb has announced her resignation effective June 8, 2017. She is stepping down from this post for personal reasons. Her duties and responsibilities will be assumed by Board President Ralph Martire until the Board selects a replacement.

Dr. Gottlieb was first elected to the Board of Education in 2013 and re-elected in 2017. Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Gottlieb led the District’s efforts to continue providing a student centered instructional environment amidst the introduction of new and more rigorous curriculum materials in literacy, math, and science. She has been a strong advocate for balancing the instructional requirements of the Illinois Learning Standards with the social emotional needs of students. Dr. Gottlieb also encouraged the District’s efforts to address educational equity and inclusivity through her strong leadership and advocacy on the District 90 Inclusiveness Advisory Board (IAB).

With Anne Gottlieb’s resignation, the process to fill the Board of Education vacancy begins immediately. According to the Illinois School Code and the District’s policies, the remaining Board members have 45 days to select a qualified individual to fill the vacancy and make the appointment. Individuals who are interested in serving on District 90’s Board of Education can submit an application at the District’s Administrative Offices, 7776 Lake Street, River Forest. The deadline to file an application is 3 p.m. on June 23, 2017 or postmarked no later than June 23, 2017.
